First Prize!!

A pleasant surprise; my image of The Mittens in Monument Valley won First Prize in the Advanced category in our camera club's competition!

This is especially pleasing to me, as our 135-member club has some VERY talented photographers. Competition was close. This image missed Best Of Show by only 6/10 of a point!

Smokin'

Well, I really had a fun day yesterday! Went to a friend, Dan Griffith's, gallery (http://www.griffithgallery.net/) and shot some smoke from an incense stick. Another photographer, George Fisher, suggested we add three flashes through red, green, and blue filters. It worked out really well. Here's a sample. It's now on my website, as well as this blog.

Home again

Well, we had to return home early; I developed an abscessed tooth. Didn't make it to Moab, UT to photograph Arches & Canyonlands Nat. Parks. Not to worry; I'll catch up to it sometime in the next few months, I hope.

We did get a few "keepers" from our shortened travel. Here's one. Check my website in the near future to see some others.

Current photography trip

Hi. Right now we're off photographing the Grand Canyon, the Wupatki Ruins near Flagstaff, Canyon de Chelly (pron. Shay), Monument Valley, Arches & Canyonlands Nat. Parks. We'll be gone most of September.

Upon our return, I hope to have quite a few "keepers" that I can add to my website. Here's an example from Monument Valley; hope you like it.
